
Goals & Objectives
Getting the youth and seniors involved in the community
- Developing mentorship programs that will bring together youth and seniors
- Creating a youth council so the young population will have a voice in the community
Getting the word out about Neighborhood Captains
- Outreaching in neighborhood blocks that do not have captains yet
- Working with other organizations to spread the word about Neighborhood Captains
- Captain identification such as picture name tags for captains
- T-Shirts for identification at block parties
- Documenting concerns/visualization
Revitalize Community
- Partner with NAACP and Biloxi Housing Authority (BHA) on Main St
- Work with the already established Oak Street Task Force
Build relationships with our neighbors and gather information about our own block
- Through door-to-door outreach
- Block Party
- Area Block communication through area block captain meetings
- Improve communication: letting residents know important information (e.g. City Council Meeting, hurricane preparedness, etc)
Work with the Police
- Meeting with the Police
- Getting numbers to their different departments
- Understanding their programs
- They should know who we are: give them a contact list of the neighborhood captains
Encourage civic participation amongst residents
- Voter registration
- Attend city council meetings
Work with the City
- Talk to elected officials about who we are and the work that we do
- Get the city to support us financially, politically, etc.
